Wellington city council have a section on their website for "e-petitions".
The petitions currently active are:
Ban on smoking along the city's "Golden Mile" - A proposal to ban smoking along the streets making up the city's Golden Mile - Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Manners Street/Manners Mall and Courtenay Place
A Positive Dog Policy Petition - allowing dogs into more areas of the city, and allowing dogs to be let off leads in the townbelt, as well as fencing and poop rubbish bins in existing exercise areas
Ban the sale of 300-330ml glass beer and RTD bottles from off-licences in Wellington. - title says it all really
Resolution of traffic pinch-point on Tory St/Courtenay Pl intersection. - Change the configuration of the lanes for north-bound traffic on Tory Street where it crosses Courtenay Place.
Downhill traffic via The Rigi - change to the top of The Rigi to stop people going down it
Help reduce food costs for local communities. Plant more food bearing plants in public spaces. - rovide and care for food bearing trees in public areas and communities, utilising land that is green, but otherwise unproductive.
Manners Mall will be protected, saying NO to revocation - The last chance for Wellington to come out and object to the final part of the decision making procedure by asking council not to revoke the Mall but instead listen to the people and their own advice in the annual plan that: "Wellington will preserve its parks, trees and open spaces".
WCC to respect the International Peace Symbol which is still the British CND organisation logo.Nuclear warheads illegally target cities to cause untreatable civilian casualties and radioactivity. The symbol against this, deserves recognition by the Wellington City Council.
That Wellington City Council installs sensor pads at pedestrian crossings at traffic lights. - It seems to be a regular joke which we as drivers witness where people with no intentions of crossing press the buttons as they pass to make us all stop...... sensor pad where people would stand which was on a timer for 15 seconds before activating the crossing ...
Petition to extend the boundary of the off-leash dog exercise area in Trelissick Park. - extension of the off-leash dog exercise area boundary so it starts at entrance number six on Kaiwharawhara Road (bottom of Ngaio Gorge) and ends at entrance number two on Waikowhai Street (by Crofton Downs Railway Station).
Kennedy Memorial - To erect a memorial to the lives (and deaths) of John F Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy on the Wellington Waterfront.
